Updated Software for Viavi T-BERD/MTS Instruments

VIAVI just released updated software for the T-BERD/MTS-8000E, -6000A MSAM & CSAM and the T-BERD/MTS-5800. This new software version includes test options and feature enhancements to enable network tests at new speeds and with new capabilities that make testing faster and more efficient.

New Orderable Options:

  • 25G Ethernet Support – test the latest 25G Ethernet interfaces and active optical cables (AOC) with the T-BERD/MTS-5800-100G in data center and mobile access applications – includes QuickCheck, RFC 2544 and Y.1564 SAMComplete workflows
  • Ethernet Over Ethernet – encapsulate 10G test traffic using the Ethernet Over Ethernet tunneling format

No-cost Feature Enhancements:

  • Quad Spectrum RF Analysis over CPRI – view spectrum analysis for up to four RF carriers on each CPRI link with spectrogram analysis on two carriers
  • Improved 10G Ethernet Service Disruption Test – better measure switching times through ROADMs with the addition of several new measurement triggers
  • 10GBaseT Interfaces – test the new 10G electrical interface via newly supported SFP+ modules
  • VLAN Scan – quickly determine which VLANs have end-to-end connectivity between two test instruments in the QuickCheck, RFC 2544 and Y.1564 SAMComplete workflows
  • Network Synchronization Enhancements – several enhancements to the IEEE 1588v2 PTP and 1PPS analysis applications including the ability to simultaneously test the quality of synchronous Ethernet and PTP IEEE 1588v2 with the new combined measurement application
  • CNO Map Spectrogram – qualify GNSS antenna installations by identifying obstructions that block the antenna from seeing satellites clearly

New Hardware Support:

  • SmartClass 4800 – new, fully featured 1G Ethernet tester with optional support for T1/E1 PRI

VSE-1100 Firmware Update v2.3.3 is now available!

A new version of firmware is now available on the VSE-1100.  This latest firmware enhances the VSE-1100’s upstream packet demodulation and troubleshooting techniques as well as other frequently used functions.  Below is a short list of updates made in this release:

  • Upstream Packet Table / Dashboard now show packets which are unable to be demodulated o Demodulation error, if detected, is shown / saved
  • NoiseTrak displays incrementing errored packet count if unable to demodulate packet
  • Packet number is now adjusted to better correlate to the packets in Packet Table
  • Performance Scan now saves the data in HTML as well as the CSV formats and can be exported to USB or synchronized to StrataSync for easier viewing
  • Added 256QAM Annex C as a valid channel type for detection and measurements
  • Downstream MER measurable to 50dB (was released in prior v2.3.2 firmware)
