Updated Software for T-BERD/MTS Products

VIAVI just released updated software for the T-BERD/MTS-8000E, -6000A MSAM & CSAM, the T-BERD/MTS-5800, and the SmartClass 4800. This new software version includes test options and feature enhancements to enable network tests at new speeds and with new capabilities that make testing faster and more efficient.

New Orderable Options:

  • 100G Service OAM – test that 100G Carrier Ethernet networks respond properly to control plane traffic such as CCM, LBM/LBR, LTM/LTR, AIS, and RDI messages
  • eCPRI – enables testing of the latest x-haul interfaces for 5G wireless networks

No-cost Feature Enhancements:

  • One Button CPRI Remote Radio Head Install Test – test MIMO radio configurations with multi-antenna PIM detection and diversity imbalance measurements
  • Bidirectional Forwarding Detection (BFD) – easily test Ethernet services through routers using BFD without needing to setup test VLAN’s or disable BFD on the port
  • Enhanced Cable Diagnostic Test – revamped graphical interface for CATx cable diagnostic tests with full report generation capabilities
  • Job Manager Enhancements – launch and run all tests including SONET/SDH, T1/E1, VoIP, OTDR from the intuitive job manager interface create a single PDF report and optional zip. Create your test plan.

Burst Testing application note

 Why Test Burst

Traditional Ethernet service-activation test methodologies such as RFC 2544 focus on testing with constant bit rate traffic. Constant bit rate testing is an important step in testing Ethernet services because it allows for the measurement of throughput, frame loss, latency, and packet jitter while the network is operating in steady state for a given rate of test traffic. While testing with constant bit-rate traffic allows for the validation of important KPIs, it does not validate how well the network will perform when transporting the expected traffic patterns which will likely consist of a mix of constant bit-rate voice and video traffic and bursty data traffic. Ensuring that this bursty data traffic can pass through the network without frame loss and without impacting other services are the two goals of burst testing. Read more.

Improve Your LTE/4G Deployment Reliability: Test CPRI over FTTA during Installation

Watch the recorded webinar to learn how the JDSU T-BERD®/MTS platform can improve FTTA deployment reliability as well as reduce repair time with CPRI and OBSAI testing.

JDSU recommends a robust testing methodology including bit-error rate testing (BERT) and delay testing during installation and protocol-aware monitoring capability to identify alarms during repair.
