Updated Software for T-BERD/MTS Products
VIAVI just released updated software for the SmartOTDR, T-BERD/MTS 2000, 4000, 4000 V2, 6000A V2 and 8000 V2.
New software versions include test options and feature enhancements to enable network tests at new speeds and with new capabilities that make testing faster and more efficient.
Base Unit Improvements (SmartOTDR, T-BERD/MTS 2000 & 4000, 6000A V2, 8000 V2)
New Functionalities:
- Addition in SLM view of average loss (dB/lkm) in overall information, and section loss into SLM
- SLM is now a standard function for all OTDR modules
- Addition of propagation delay measurement in SLM view in overall information (this function is coming from a configuration file)
- Addition of the following metadata in txt and PDF files: Direction, Cable Id, Fiber Id, and in case of single wavelength txt and PDF storage, also Total Length, Total Loss, link ORL
- Addition of script for repetitive OTDR measurements (this function is coming from a configuration file)
Improvements:
- Improved management of SLM with SmarAcq and FTTH-SLM licenses
- Fiber labels are also provided in the comment field
- On platforms having SmartAcq or FTTH-SLM license, in Expert mode, ability to store in SOR when generating single pulse acquisitions
- Improved image on PDF reports in case of reports with full zoom
- Improved PDF report (display of Cable Id/Fiber Id in case of different extremities, better report with CSOR files, power meter results are now shown on top when generating a power meter + OTDR report
- Improved management of file deletion using FTP
Specific to SmartOTDR
Improvements:
- SmartOTDR B series: improved trace for PON (requires recalibration)
- Improved management of SmartAccessAnywhere after a reboot of the unit
Specific to T-BERD/MTS 2000, 4000
New Functionalities:
- Management of MA2, MA3 and MP2 PON OTDR modules
- New SmartTest user interface with assistant mode
Improvements:
- Improved management of remote screen via talkset/datalink
- M2M management using IP address when the two products are within the same LAN area
- Improved management of the network creation in adhoc or AP master mode
- Improved management of the 20μs pulse for DWDM OTDR modules and also LA OTDR modules
- Improved management of the switch (no longer set at the 0 parking port)
Specific to T-BERD/MTS 4000 V2
Improvements:
- Improved management of the arrow keys and home key together with the softkeys on the touchscreen
- Improved management of the Start/Stop key (pressing and holding the key for a long period does not stop the acquisition)
- Improved management of the Result/Setup/File key and Enter key (pressing and holding the key for the long period does not have any effect)
Specific to T-BERD/MTS 6000A V2, 8000 V2
New Functionalities:
- New SmartTest user interface with assistant mode
Improvements:
- M2M management using IP address when the two products are within the same LAN area
- Improved management of the network creation in adhoc or AP master mode
- Improved management of the switch (no longer set at the 0 parking port)
Specific to FiberComplete application for T-BERD/MTS 2000, 4000, 4000 V2, 6000 V2, 8000 V2
- Machine to Machine capability with SmartAccessAnywhere License 2 enabling the transfer of complete setup parameters between units
Specific to Fiber Characterization script for T-BERD/MTS-6000A V2 & -8000 V2

- Improved management of the cloud storage disk size information
- Improved management of internal disk size information when large files are used
